The Maple School is a special school academy in Blackpool, providing education for students aged 9-16 with social, emotional and mental health needs.
Students attending the school all have an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP). Students follow a personalised curriculum and have an Personal Learning Plan (PLP). A statutory review of the EHCP is held annually, where the student's progress is discussed with parents and other professionals and targets set for the following year.
The Maple School's admissions are managed through the Local Authority (LA) Blackpool Council.
Admission to the school is by referral from Blackpool Council. Parents are encouraged to visit the school to inform their choice; to arrange a visit of interest or non-preferential visit. Please contact Blackpool Council’s SEND Team or visit their website Blackpool Local Offer. Please note we are unable to arrange visits to school without a referral from Blackpool Council.

Admission of disabled students
The Maple School is committed to providing an inclusive environment in which all pupils can thrive and achieve their potential. Applications for admission from pupils with disabilities are welcomed and considered in accordance with the school's admissions arrangements and the Equality Act 2010. Disabled pupils are not treated less favourably because of their disability and reasonable adjustments are made, where appropriate, to ensure they can access the education, support, services and opportunities provided by the school.
The school works closely with parents, carers, external agencies and the local authority, where appropriate, to identify and remove barriers to learning and participation. Individual needs are considered carefully to ensure that suitable provision, support and access arrangements are put in place.
